Lessons
|
- Please be prompt for lessons. If you are late, you may not be able to receive a full lesson.
- Parents will promptly pick up students after their lessons so as not to leave them unattended, waiting outside.
- Please do not schedule subsequent events so close that you must leave early. Allow enough time to complete your lesson. When students are in a rush to make a deadline elsewhere following the lesson, they are distracted and unable to focus.
- Please wash hands before lessons. In fact, just get in the habit of hand washing before practice or performance. Instruments are expensive and require special care and respect. At the Studio, the piano keys can become a medium for communicable diseases. Cleanliness can reduce this factor. Students may be asked to excuse themselves and wash if need be during a lesson. Fingernails will be clipped short. This is an important factor in hand position at the piano.
- It is requested that family members wait outside the Studio during lessons. It is too disruptive to have many people in the Studio. Parents are welcome during the lesson, but without other children. Students should not bring guests to lessons.

Incentives and Rewards
|
Joyful Sounds Music Studio hopes to encourage students to improve through the "Joyful Points" program in which students earn credits each week for attending lessons, practicing on their free time, and finishing books. These credits can then be turned in each month for small prizes and toys. It is our hope that students who feel that practicing is cumbersome, may grow to appreciate it's benefits through reward and encouragement.

Cancellations & Make-up Lessons
|
- Make-up lessons are available in the 5th week of the month.
- If you are sick and notify the Studio 24 hours in advance, your lesson time can be rescheduled either for later that week or during the fifth week. Do not expect a rescheduled lesson if the 24-hour rule has not been followed. However, please do not come to your lesson sick. If you are not well enough to go to school/work, you are not well enough for a piano lesson.
- If there is a true emergency, such as death in the family or sudden, unexpected illness, this time will be rescheduled. Please notify the Studio/or leave a message as soon as possible.
- NO Make-up lesson will be given without a phone call or message before the lesson starts!
- Winter weather directions will be handed out each fall.
- The Studio will make concessions for family vacations; PLEASE schedule these vacations at least 2 weeks in advance.
You are free to discontinue lessons if you feel that the lessons do not meet your needs or expectations. Please provide the Studio with 3 weeks notice whenever possible and notice before the next month is required.
